My Yoga Story
Around 15 years ago, I joined a yoga class at the gym I go to in Ayr to stretch. It wasn’t long before I began to experience the deeply therapeutic benefits of yoga for body and my mind. It quickly became a huge part of my life. I went to the gym to lose weight, but through yoga I found peace, contentment and self-acceptance.
In 2017 I trained in Hatha Yoga with the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in Thailand. There were many things I took away from that training, like finally feeling control in headstand, but most important was how to share my yoga practice with others.
I think it's important to learn the foundations of yoga from the beginning from a qualified teacher, so that you can develop awareness of your body to find your own unique practice. In my classes in Ayrshire and online, you will be given the space and encouragement to do this.
Throughout my own practice, I fell in love with Vinyasa Yoga and in 2019, I completed my Vinyasa Teacher training with Arhanta Yoga in the Netherlands.
Hatha yoga is a traditional style of yoga focused on control in postures, and Vinyasa Flow is a modern style that involves synchronising movement with breath and experiencing transitions as meditative movement.
When I step onto the yoga mat and immerse myself in physical asana, my body, mind and spirit connect. I hope that my classes give you the space and opportunity to experience this connection for yourself.
